Vintage High School shelters in place due to ruptured gas line - The Press Democrat
A Napa high school is sheltering in place Tuesday morning after a private construction crew ruptured a gas line across the street, police said.
Some students on the north side of Vintage High School were moved to classrooms farther from the leak on Trower Avenue while other students are not allowed to leave their classrooms, Napa police Lt. Chris Pacheco told The Press Democrat.
“Kids are not allowed to wander the campus,” he said, adding that they must move directly to their next class between periods.
The shelter in place began after the leak was reported just before 10:40 a.m.
The action is just out of precaution, Pacheco said.
Pacific Gas and Electric Co. crews shut off gas to the line about 11:35 a.m. and will likely remain at the site for a few hours, spokesperson Megan McFarland said.
