TRAFFIC ALERT: Crews strike gas line, again, on Grade; Route 61, Coal Creek Plaza closed - The Shenandoah Sentinel

Oct 24, 2024

DARKWATER – If you’re heading south of the mountain today, take the Burma or Route 901. Construction crews working on Route 61 hit a gas main again.

The highway is closed from Coal Creek Plaza in Saint Clair to Interstate 81 in Frackville, and all businesses in the Coal Creek Plaza are closed as well.

The Schuylkill County Office of Emergency Management is on scene as are firefighters from the Saint Clair Fire Department.

Crews hit the gas line some time Wednesday morning.

This is the second time a gas line has been struck. In May, crews hit a line and the highway was closed from well over a day.
