FM 620 northbound still closed 2 days after gas leak reported: officials | FOX 7 Austin

AUSTIN, Texas - A gas leak has shut down part of FM 620 east of Lake Travis and the closure continues as of Sunday afternoon.

Lake Travis Fire Rescue said at 11:43 a.m. Oct. 18, a construction crew hit an eight-inch gas line at FM 620 and Ranch Road 2222, leading to the leak.

Texas Gas Service crews are currently on scene working on repairs to the line and to restore service.

TxDOT Austin said at 4:25 p.m. Oct. 19 that the road will remain closed until it's safe to reopen.

On Oct. 20 at 4:10 p.m., TxDOT Austin reported that the northbound lanes remain closed just north of the bypass road and that there is no estimate on when the lanes will reopen.

However, at 6:15 p.m., Oct. 20, Lake Travis Fire Rescue said that both directions of FM 620 are expected to reopen late Sunday night while the RR 2222 bypass will remain closed, as per Texas Gas Service.

Drivers are advised to find an alternate route and to expect heavy delays in the area.
