AUSTIN, Texas — Crews with Texas Gas and Lake Travis Fire Rescue (LTFR) are working to repair a gas leak in the 6400 block of Ranch Road 620 that began Friday morning when construction crews hit an 8-inch gas line.
The leak caused the closure of northbound lanes in the 6400 block of Ranch Road 620, causing traffic to be rerouted around the intersection of RM 2222 and 620 via the 2222 bypass.
Just after 4 p.m., equipment and crews began digging to mitigate the leak and damaged pipe.
Just before 7:30 p.m. Friday, crews with TxDOT were on site, directing traffic and assisting in the efforts to fix the broken line. Texas Gas took the lead on repair efforts just after 8 p.m., with LTFR remaining at the scene to assist with safety measures.
Crews expect the line to be repaired at some point between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday. Heavy traffic delays are expected until the repairs are complete.
As of 9:22 a.m., the road remained closed as Texas Gas crews continued to work on repairs. Drivers have been told to expect heavy traffic in the area.
