Based on our testing and the recommendations of thousands of shoppers, these are the best garden hoses you can shop on Amazon for summer 2023.
When we put garden hoses to the test, the Flexzilla came out on top—which shouldn't be surprising, seeing as more than 71,000 Amazon reviewers agree. This powerful hose is light and flexible, making it an excellent choice for those who want to use it for multiple purposes. It's comfortable to use and easy to store—all excellent qualities for the ideal garden hose.
For a solid rubber hose, we recommend the Dramm Colorstorm Hose. It's heavy, but it's incredibly durable and kink-resistant. We also found it could handle exceptionally high temperatures—up to 160 degrees Fahrenheit! It's a bit bulkier than other hoses we tested, but it's an excellent option for those using their hoses for heavy-duty projects.
This steel garden hose may look unwieldy, but it's actually incredibly user-friendly and doesn't kink like other rubber hoses. It's shockingly lightweight, as well, considering its steel construction. Its water pressure isn't impressive with the built-in nose, but picking up a sprayer nozzle will fix that right away.
The Flexi Hose features a unique construction—it has an expandable cover, so you can stretch it up to 50 feet. It's lightweight and takes up less storage space than traditional hoses. We loved the included spray nozzle but didn't find its pressure quite as strong as the other hoses we tested. Still, it's an incredibly popular and powerful hose to shop.
We love a host that doesn't kink, and the Apex Teknor NeverKing stands up to its name–mostly. In testing, we found that it provided excellent water pressure and was comfortable to use, but it still had a few kinks throughout our testing. We think this hose is a great option for watering plants thanks to its comfort grip.
Flat hoses are great for any projects that would benefit from the dexterity they provide, such as deep watering. This hose aced all our tests and was incredibly durable compared to its rubber and stainless steel counterparts. We loved how lightweight it was, making it easy to drag around the garden in no time.
The Gilmour Hose Flat Soaker is another excellent flat hose with a strong Amazon following (over 8,000 reviews and a 4.2-star rating). The difference is that the Gilmour is a soaker, not a true garden hose, meaning it's meant to soak a wide area of your lawn (versus a targeted surface like a traditional hose). It's lightweight and great for mulching, but it won't be suitable for daily plant watering or washing your car.
If you need a budget-friendly, run-of-the-mill garden hose, you won't find one much cheaper than the Orgrimmar Outdoor Garden Hose, which is only $17 on Amazon. It's got a 3.9-star after 1,500 ratings, so it's not as highly regarded as other hoses on this list, but for the price, it provides precisely what it offers: a rubber garden hose.
The Specilite Stainless Steel Garden Hose is another great stainless steel option to consider, and while we haven't tested this one, nearly 6,500 Amazon shoppers swear by it. It claims to be kink- and tangle-resistant, and if it's anything like the Bionic, those claims hold true. You can shop it in a variety of sizes, from one foot up to 150 feet.
The Grace Green Garden Hose is a sleek option that provides heavy-duty watering while staying lightweight. It claims to be easy to clean and mold-resistant, which are crucial in an outdoor garden hose. Reviewers call it soft and flexible, noting that the large rubber ends are easier to screw into water connections than other hoses.
Many different materials can comprise a water hose. The most traditional is rubber, but you can also shop for stainless steel, latex and aluminum models. The best hose depends on what you'll need to use it for. If you want to water plants, fill pools, set up sprinklers, and wash your car, opt for our favorite model—the Flexzilla, which is a powerful, wallet-friendly and lightweight option.
Typically, hoses come in 1/2-inch, 5/8-inch and 3/4-inch sizes. The larger the size, the more water will flow through the hose. Our top hoses were all 5/8-inch, which seemed to provide the best water pressure and performance in our testing.
No! Though garden hoses can be made from various materials, they are not considered recyclable, as they can get caught in recycling machinery and cause long-term problems. Instead, you'll want to trash it or think of creative ways to reuse your old garden hose.
